The UT Dental Branch is currently located at 6515 M.D. Anderson Blvd. in Houston's Texas Medical Center. The facility has been home to the Dental Branch for more than 50 years, but the UT Health Science Center is building a new school a few miles south, off Old Spanish Trail. The project is currently in the design phase and should be ready for occupancy in 2011.

Scholarship to Honor Late Dr. Ken Porter

The Dr. Kenneth H. Porter Operative Dentistry Scholarship Fund has been established to honor the memory of the longtime University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston faculty member. Porter, professor emeritus and clinical professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials, passed away suddenly May 19 while vacationing in Colorado.


UTDB Alumni Roundup Coming Sept. 19
The UTDB Alumni Association invites you to Alumni Round-Up 2008, set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Friday, Sept. 19 at the UT Dental Branch, 6516 M.D. Anderson Blvd. in Houston. Featured events include a panel discussion on "The Scope of Dentistry's Future: How Will You Fit In?"   In the evening, enjoy a tour and dinner at the Federal Reserve Bank at 1801 Allen Parkway in Houston. East Houston Dentist Donates $1M to UT Dental Branch

Matching dollar-for-dollar the largest donation in the 102-year history of The University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston, an East Houston dentist has given $1 million toward the school’s planned new facility in the UT Research Park, which broke ground Aug. 30, 2007.


UTDB Researchers Decoding Saliva to Detect Breast Cancer
Using a simple saliva test, researchers at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston have found a way to detect breast cancer and a way to distinguish malignant from benign breast tumors. Results of the groundbreaking UT study appear in the January 2008 edition of the scientific journal Cancer Investigation.
